Learn to work with Agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot

The project team behind one of our initiatives at Storyals is truly international - Natalie is from Chile, Yuhang from China, Carl from the Philippines, and Ulrika from Sweden. While English is our shared business language, it can sometimes create barriers to communication. To address this, we use the "Interpreter" agent in our meetings, enabling everyone to follow and contribute in their preferred language. At first, it felt a bit like science fiction. Today, it’s simply how we work with agents at Storyals.  This is the kind of shift we want more people to experience - and it's exactly why we've created our new course: "Work together with agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot".

Why this course - and why now?

Over the past year, we've spoken to many leaders and business users who feel they've only just gotten comfortable with Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. And now we're asking them to think about agents on top of that? We get it - it can feel like the ground keeps shifting underneath us. But here's the thing: agents are not "yet another feature" to learn. They represent a fundamentally new way of working - one where digital helpers don't just answer your questions, but actually do things on your behalf. They retrieve information, reason across data, create documents, analyze numbers, send emails, and collaborate with you and with each other. If Copilot Chat unlocked your superpowers, agents are what turn those superpowers into a team.

So, what exactly is an agent?

We like to explain it with a simple office analogy. Imagine you need help finding the employee parking - you'd ask the front desk receptionist, the person who knows the most about anything and everything. But if you need feedback on a revenue forecast, you'd walk over to your colleague in the finance team.  It's the same in the digital workplace. Copilot Chat is your generalist, your "go-to" for anything you need a quick hand with. Agents are your specialists - each one with deep knowledge in a specific area, and the ability to take action for you.

What you will learn

The course walks you through the agents that, in our own daily work at Storyals, have made the biggest difference. Here's a glimpse:

  • The Researcher agent - one of our favourites. We use it to plan marketing campaigns, prepare for customer meetings, and even for background research when writing our monthly blog posts. Give it a clear goal, sources, and expectations - and let it go off and do the heavy lifting (sometimes up to 20 minutes of work) while you focus on something else.

  • The Analyst agent - your go-to for anything involving numbers. Price lists, trends, forecasts, projections. It does the advanced calculations behind the scenes and gives you back insights you can actually act on.

  • The Facilitator agent - the digital meeting helper that keeps your agenda visible, captures notes as you go, and gently nudges the conversation back on track when it drifts.

  • The Interpreter agent - the one that makes our multi-lingual meetings possible. Real-time, AI-powered translations in your Teams meetings.

  • In-app agents in SharePoint, Planner and more - the quieter helpers that make tasks like populating metadata or generating status reports feel almost effortless.

  • Building your own agents - a first look at Agent Builder (no-code agent builder, for business users) and where Copilot Studio fits in for more advanced scenarios.

The course is short, story-based, and designed to fit into the flow of the workday - just like all of our Storyals courses.

A new era of work

We'll be honest: working with agents has changed how we execute our day-to-day work. It's helped us think faster, create more, and free up time for the things only humans can do. But it has also required us to let go of some old habits - opening apps to do tasks we can now simply describe out loud, or carefully crafting reports that an agent can draft in minutes. Like all change, this one builds on trust. Our recommendation - the same one we share at the end of the course - is to start small. Pick one agent. Try it in a real scenario this week. See what it gives back to you. You don't need to leap into the agentic future all at once. You just need to take the next step.
